Linda Claire Hinrichs
Ms. Colbert,
I am writing in response to your comments about artist Claire Cressler
He was my mother’s cousin. His mother, Bertha, and my grandfather, Alva Tozer, were siblings. Because of distance and his having no children, communication was infrequent with his family in Illinois. However, he did occasionally write to my mother, Virginia, who passed away last month at age 90, , and her sister, Alice, who is still living. Her last correspondence from him was about a year ago. Claire’s mother lived to 103 I believe. We are sorry to hear of his passing.
As you can see by my middle name, my mother thought highly of his mother and him. I have in my possession a wonderful photo album of Claire and his parents as he grew up. Some were taken by Claire I imagine and many show a great deal of artistic composition.
It is comforting to know that his work is so highly sought after. I made attempts over the years to acquire a piece of his work, but he responded that nearly all of it was commissioned and in someone elses possession.

Hello Linda,
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and share further info about Claire. Please accept my sympathy in the loss of your mother. Although Claire is missed we are fortunate to be touched by him whenever we visit the downtown Akron-Summit County Public Library where his artwork is nicely displayed in the High Street lobby area.
