kaleidoscope2009

Kaleidoscope, the annual juried show sponsored by the Alliance for the Visual Arts, opens Friday, November 20, at Summit Artspace. A sneek peek revealed an exhibit that lives up to its name - it is a visual assemblage of art in a kaleidoscope of media and style. Juried into the show were two prints from the pod series: Lantern Plant and Peas + Pods. How great is that?!

The Akron Area Arts Alliance Arts Alive! Awards Celebration and the Out of the Box Auction were held last weekend, benefiting both the alliance and Summit Artspace. Eighty extraordinary boxes made their way to new homes thanks to the generosity and creativity of the donating artists and the enthusiastic bidding of attending patrons. Shrine, by Erica H., a metalsmithing major at the University of Akron, came home with me. According to Erica, “Buddha is there to guide you through whatever, just reach in and give ‘im a rub.” Wonderful!
