With today’s UPS delivery the letterpress project is finally underway! The odds and ends in the initial shipment seem to make it official. There’s still a long way to go, but at least I have an assistant with a nose for such things.

plein air around the world pc

Forget the vacation snapshots, the next best thing to travelling is seeing the world through an artist’s perspective. In Plein Air Around the World, which opened at Summit Artspace on Friday, eight artists share their on-location paintings from locales both near and far. Dino Massaroni, whose work is included, curated the exhibit. We spent two days last week arranging and hanging the show, which gave me the opportunity to ‘visit’ France and Italy along with other lovely locales, some much closer to home.

aorc annual show

There are only a few days left to see the 19th Annual Artists of Rubber City Juried Show at Mocha Maiden Gallery. Dorothy Shinn, in today’s Akron Beacon Journal, wrote “Last year I said this is the go-to group for serious local contemporary artists, and this show only reinforces that opinion. The sense of mastery and professionalism evidenced by this exhibit is far and away the best seen in years.”  The entire review, with images, is available here.

A month later than usual, the studio was open in June this year. Visitors enjoyed the artwork and refreshments inside and the gardens (and hounds) outside. It was a lovely day - thanks to all who attended! Bonus: for a (short) while I can enjoy a spic and span studio that is truly refreshing. (Now, about that attic. . .)

Congratulations to Maggie N. on winning one of the new crow prints!

It can’t possibly last, but so far June has provided a near perfect combination of sunshine and soft rain. The new soaker hoses are in place, but their services are not required. . . yet. The lilies are lovely and the toads are. . . uh, toads. The conspicuous white stripe suggests that this princely fellow is a Woodhouse’s Toad.

Steppin’ out

In the nursery rhyme the twenty-four blackbirds escape the pie and live to sing about it.

4 + 20 (blackbirds. . .)

Recently the 4 + 20 flew off to a new home in Asheville, North Carolina, leaving behind the new guy, a little print of a sauntering crow.
