Bluegrass, ryegrass, bentgrass, fescue. . . crabgrass? Turfgrass was the focus of the morning session of the last master gardening class, held at Kingwood Gardens in Mansfield, Ohio.

Grassroots is a little monotype of all the business going on beneath the carpet of green.

Saturday afternoon was spent in the gardens of Kingwood: a beautiful blue sky overhead, the promise of spring all around and greenhouses so tempting that it was impossible to leave empty handed.

This marvelous wreath was on display in the Cactus & Succulent House.

Following a winter of master gardening classes it seemed imperative to put some effort into a bit of urban farming, hence the basement grow lights and flats of sprouting herbs and veggies.
